A recent national study on carbon capture in concrete production highlighted the Vollsveien 9–11 project in Lysaker, Norway. Designed by A-Lab and providing our structural engineering expertise to their teams, the 20,000 m² low-emission office building targets FutureBuilt ZERO and BREEAM-NOR v6.0 certifications, focusing on circularity and disassembly design.
The structure integrates the E-slab system—a research and development collaboration between B+G and Snøhetta—combining structure and building services into a single, prefabricated concrete element. The study shows up to 63% CO₂ reduction in concrete elements thanks to carbon capture technology, underlining the potential of pairing innovative design with climate-conscious materials.
