Psychiatry Campus at Frankfurt University Hospital: 2nd Prize

The listed campus will be modernised and expanded to meet growing space requirements, improve patient care, and support research. The first construction phase includes two new buildings with outdoor areas, as well as the renovation of House 93, designed by Martin Elsaesser and completed in 1931. The special feature: The entire complex and its gardens are listed.

We are pleased that the design by schneider+schumacher Städtebau, in collaboration with GINA Barcelona Architects and WGF Objekt Landschaftsarchitekten, has been awarded 2nd prize in the competition for the redesign of the psychiatric campus at Frankfurt University Hospital.

The proposal features two new buildings oriented towards the green spaces. B+G provided structural engineering consultancy. First prize went to CODE UNIQUE Architects in collaboration with RSP Freiraum.

According to the Landesbetrieb Bau und Immobilien Hessen, the award-winning designs provide a strong basis for further planning and possible implementation of the first construction phase. Further decisions are expected this summer.
