The extension and renovation of the listed library at Karl-Franzens University in Graz feature many new utility areas, such as a new auditorium and study rooms. On top of the historic building is a large floating reading hall made out of glass. The cantilevered construction allows a revelation of the original façade from 1895 underneath.
A multifunctional atrium between the library and the main building becomes a new entrance as well as a key meeting point at the university.
