The Taiyuan Water Sports Center is a building complex sitting along the Weihe river and features a 300-person spectator stand for rowing. It consists of three main buildings – the media building, terminal tower and a testing room area – and eight outhouse time tower pavilions.
The media building and terminal tower are planned as a combination of reinforced concrete core and the floor slab and steel column, truss and beam construction. The cantilevering upper floors of the five-storey terminal tower are supported by a reinforced concrete slab with varying thicknesses and the façade columns. The testing room and time tower is a light-weight steel structure with diagonal members for global stability.
