Soundgarden

For the 70th anniversary of the Darmstadt summer schools, the host created a unique visual and spatial eye-catcher with the temporary SOUNDGARDEN in the centre of Darmstadt. The image of a vocal “greenhouse”, housing cacti which from afar remind of John Cage, serves as a visual basis for the sculpture. The pavilion consists of a timber frame construction covered with OSB boards. The stepped access to the upper level serves both as scene and seating area. At the upper level, a prefabricated greenhouse is supported by upstand beams cantilevering approx. 4.2 m.
