The primary energy objective for this new construction project was to exceed the standards set by the existing 2009 Energy Saving Ordinance by 30%. In order to achieve this objective, various options were considered and evaluated. The final design incorporates a gas-condensing boiler for hot water and heating, as well as a solar system. To ensure proper ventilation and minimize losses, the ventilation system is designed as a supply and exhaust air system that recovers 80% of heat, allowing for hygienic air exchange. The flats have been designed to have compact floor plans and balconies that span their entire width. These balconies are thermally separated from the building envelope through design measures, eliminating thermal bridges and preventing energy losses.
