The football stadium in Gdansk was constructed specifically for the 2012 European Championships. The stadium's design was selected from a competition held for this purpose. It draws inspiration from the Baltic Coast and its rich history of shipbuilding and seamlessly blends it with the modern architecture of the 21st century.
Through transparency, lightness and amber colored luminance the stadium becomes a significant landmark. The structural performance was achieved by the combination of two efficient supporting systems - a convex shell which is acting as a façade supported by a frame. The 82 girder on the outer side are connected by the façade structure to form an integrated structure similarly to the ship-building industry methods.
