The new building for the ‘Fraunhofer Institut’ in Kassel provides 9,304 m² of office and laboratory space for around 550 employees. The building has a maximum footprint of 116 m x 110 m. The eastern part of the building curves slightly and widens to a maximum building width of 32 m. This creates space for an atrium within the building. The institute building has 4 floors and a 2-storey hall area (Technica). The hall area directly adjoins the institute building in a north-south direction. Visually, the technical centre breaks through the rising block of the institute building.
