The ‘Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung’ has built a residential building for FAZ employees at Frankenallee 68-72. The front building has seven storeys and 28 apartments, while the four-storey rear building has 15 smaller apartments. Both buildings are connected by an underground car park.
The buildings are constructed of cross-laminated timber from the ground floor up to the load-bearing structure of the roofs. In the apartments, the ceilings are wooden, with an additional 6 cm of cross-laminated timber for fire protection. The basement, the underground car park, and the staircase in the front building are made of reinforced concrete. The floor slab and walls in contact with the ground were realised as waterproof concrete.
