The Hostatoschule in Frankfurt Höchst is a primary and secondary school with around 360 students. The school building, constructed between 1895 and 1898, is a listed building. In order to create space for the extended childcare centre, an extension is being added. The extension will include childcare rooms, a dining hall with a kitchen, a multi-purpose room, a group room, and offices.
The new three-storey extension directly connects to the existing building, visually separated by a joint. It matches the cubature and the facade structure of the existing building. At the same time, the construction and material make the new part of the building clearly recognisable. The main structure will be in-situ concrete construction with beamed ceilings. The roof will have timber rafters and a steel substructure. The extension will be partially positioned above the existing access structure to the Leunastrasse subway. Due to the limitations of the existing access structure, the extension will utilize small bored piles to transfer all its loads into the ground.
