A new bicycle parking garage is being built at Heidelberg's main railway station. The 730 comfortable and secure bicycle parking spaces are located underground and are accessible via a ramp. As part of the construction of the new building, we were commissioned to plan the roof structure.

The roof is planned as a circular ring with an outer diameter of approx. 21 metres. It rests on articulated pendulum supports on either side, whose inclined position provides bracing. The pendulum supports rest on a reinforced concrete ramp, and reinforced concrete supports underneath, the base points of which follow the ramp geometry. The unique feature of the roof supports is that they can be very slender and direct the rainwater drainage downwards on the inside.

The roof overhang is constructed using cantilever beams cut at an angle, two of which are always parallel. The roof surface is closed by PV modules and glass elements placed between the cantilever beams.
