We are delighted to announce that the Bog Characters and the New Wien Museum are featured in Ingenieurbaukunst 2025: Made in Germany, recently published by Ernst & Sohn!
The renovation and extension of the New Wien Museum, based on the winning design of an international competition held in 2015, include a remarkable addition that appears to "float" above the historic structure. Originally designed by Oswald Haerdtl in 1959, the existing building has been seamlessly integrated with this contemporary extension. We were privileged to handle the structural engineering for this landmark project, which officially opened its doors in December 2023.
The Bog Fox, designed by PART Architecture from Estonia, is a 45-meter-tall high-voltage pylon that minimizes material usage while showcasing an elegant, four-branched structure resembling a crouching fox. The Bog Crane and Bog Crane B, the second and third high-voltage pylons in Estonia's electricity infrastructure, follow the same principles and share the visual identity of their predecessor. The pylons are constructed from steel, featuring customized cross-sections that balance material efficiency with organic aesthetics. We were involved in the conceptual planning for the structural engineering of the pylons.
