Yesterday, our colleague Adam Orlinski gave a presentation titled ‘Constructing the Temporary: Engineering Case Studies for Cultural Pavilions’ at the International Conference of Pop-Up Structures for Culture, which took place at MAXXI in Rome. The conference’s main theme was the investigation of temporary, flexible and reusable structures, focusing on sustainability.
Adam presented the structural engineering challenges and innovations behind projects like The Land, White Noise, and ProtoCampo. His presentation addressed these challenges through material optimisation, energy efficiency, CO2 compensation, and recycled materials, all of which aim to reduce environmental impact.
