Article about a special lift bridge in Berlin

In collaboration with Schulitz Architects, a bridge connecting Charlottenburg and Plötzensee prisons over the Friedrich-Olbricht-Damm in Berlin was built in 2022. This exciting project is the subject of an interesting article in the latest issue of Brückenbau, a German-language magazine published by the Wiederspahn publishing group. The issue is available online, and the article on the lift bridge is on pages 18 to 23.

The unique feature of this design is the movable center section. To accommodate special transports and increase clearance height, an approximately 8-meter-long span can be raised. Instead of lifting an entire bridge segment, only the floor is raised to the roof, with the facade folding outwards.
